WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

WITH ONE WEEK LEFT, THE HABS HAVE SOLIDIFIED A SPOT IN THE SAM CUPP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

THE SHARKS ARE UP ONE POINT OVER THE HAWKS AND TWO POINTS OVER THE FLYERS.

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO NEXT WEEK!

FLYERS   5     WINGS   4

Danny Rea scores his second goal of the game with just over a minute left, to snap the 4-4 tie to give the Flyers a much needed W!  Rob Rowling, Marty Papesh and sub “The Venerable” Howard Smith also score for the Flyers.  Craig Bastuba with a two goal game for the Wings.  Mike Nalepa and Terry Boyette with singles.

SHARKS   5    HAWKS   1

The team with eight players dominates the team with nine players!  Nate McNaughtry with the trick.  Singles for Scott Chodun and Jim Puffer.  Lloyd Rogers strips the puck from brother Mark, which leads directly to a Sharks goal.  Joey Reiss with the lone Hawks marker.

HABS   4    FLYERS   0

It was a very close game with the Habs leading 1-0 with five minutes left in the final period.  Then the Habs score three times in a 22 second span to ice it!  Zach Wagner and subs Kyle Lybecker and the Jimmy’s – Degan and Leonardi tally for Habs.  “Smoking” Joe Polizzi with the whitewash.  No Flyers highlights.  Flyer forward Mike Miller did not play this game due to chest pains.  Mike had his wife pick him up at the rink.  Best wishes Mike!

BRUINS   6     HAWKS   3

The revamped Bruins put a serious dent in the Hawks Championship game aspirations as they drop a deuce today.  Deuces wild for Mike Garlick and Brian Barker.  Singles for Greg Stacey and Steve Bayagich.  Right winger Rex Baker with the hat trick assist.  Sub goaler Gordie Nadolsky was outstanding between the pipes!  It was very evident in both games today, that the Hawks were missing star forward Greg Kalvin.  Chad Wooten, Joey Reiss and Eddie Sudzina score for the Hawks.  In the parking lot last week – Hawks goalie Kirk “Captain America” Larson made a bold prediction!  “We WILL play in the Championship game and we WILL defeat the Habs!”  Even after dropping a deuce today, that is still a possibility.

WINGS    5     BRUINS   5

A game of zero consequence.  A tie.  Perfect!  Mike Garlick with the Bruins hat trick.  Chris Isola and Rex Baker with singles.  Brian Barker with a four helper game.  Wings sub Timmy O’Dea with the deuce.  Singles for Mike “Padre” Nalepa, Paul Violassi and sub Scott Davenport.

HABS   6    SHARKS   4

This was a tough loss for the Fish as a W could have strengthen their position in the playoffs.  The Frenchmen score five of the most beautiful goals you will ever see!  Tick tack toe passing by their big three – Brian Moore(3 & 1), Zach Wagner(2 & 1) and the opinionated Robbie Olmstead(1 & 2) who factor in on all their team’s goals!  Sharks – Lloyd Rogers(2), Nate McNaughtry and buddy Scott Chodun.  Once again, the bearded referee dishes out an unsportsmanlike penalty to the Sharks Jim Puffer, who again did not utter any profanity.  This is getting to be like a broken record.
