A WEEK BEFORE OLYMPIA STADIUM WAS DEMOLISHED IN 1987,

MYSELF AND MY WIFE, DAD AND BROTHER WENT INTO OLYMPIA STADIUM.

PRIED OPEN THE PLYWOOD BACK DOOR.

BELOW ARE SOME PICTURES FROM THAT SPECIAL EXCURSION!

THE BACK DOOR WE WENT IN.

NOTICE THE “O’ MISSING ON TOP.

SOMEONE GOT IT!  UNBELIEVABLE!

MARQUEE LETTERS GONE!

A CARCASS OF THE OVER HANGING SCOREBOARD!

THE PROMENADE CONNECTED SEATS, PROUDLY DISPLACED IN MY BASEMENT!

BRUINS   5     HABS   2

Mike Riddle leads the Bruins with a two goal game.  Singles for “Midtown” Mikey Brown, Jeff Steiber and sub Tringali.  Anthony Amato and subbing for Rob Rowling – Chris Ballach tally for the Habs.  Steve Wink with a solo roughing minor penalty.  The Habs were once again minus top gun Rob Rowling, who is rumored to be on a silent holdout and will reappear when it counts in the playoffs!

SHARKS   5     FLYERS   4

Green Bay QB lookalike Aaron Rogers(Picture Below) Nate McNaughrty with the trick for the Sharks!  John Cornish and Nick Piccolo with their final two goals.  Trevor Wrobel, Mark Rogers, Ward Peterson and Ukrainian sub Kostesich with the Flyers markers in this penalty free game.

HAWKS   2    WINGS   2

Steve Bayagich and Zach Wagner score early goals for the Wings, then it was all Hawks from there!  The play rarely left the Wings zone, as Wings goalie Joe Polizzi stood on his proverbial head!  John Poolton and Paul Elsey Jr. with the Hawks goals.  The game included some very questionable calls and non-calls from the officials.

HABS   6    HAWKS   5

THE HABS WIN!  The pregame strategy of playing a 4-1 and telling goalie Billy Schaugg your on your own this game worked!  Anthony Amato with the deuce.  Rob “Archie” Montgomery with the game winning shorthanded goal.  Paul “Stork” Erikson and subs Chris Ballach and Mike Ala also score.  Hawks – Larry “School Boy” Rowe, John Poolton, Paul Elsey Jr and subs Micolo and playing a great game and looking quicker than ever – Jimmy “Jets” Galloway.  Brian Moore and David Rupprecht with the hat trick assist.  There have been rumblings, that maybe a management shakeup with the talented underperforming Hawks is in the works.  Longtime hockey Captain Robbie Olmstead was spotted at the rink.  Stay tuned.

BRUINS   5     SHARKS   3

Da Bruins win their third straight game behind the hat trick efforts of Mike “Padre” Nalepa!  Rex Baker(1 & 2) and involved in all of their goals – Jeff Steiber(1 & 4) excel as a line, as they total 11 points in the game!  John Cornish(2) and returning from his lengthy suspension – Scott Davenport with the Sharks markers.

WINGS   7    FLYERS   2

The Wagner boys – Zach(Trick) and the highly passionate Nate(2) lead the Wings to the W!  Steve Bayagich and returning from his Florida vacation – Kurt Salvatore with singles.  Wings goalie “Smoking” Joe Polizzi with several highlight reel glove saves!  Billy Reiss and Ward Peterson score for the Flyers.  Now to the interesting stuff, as there were 11 penalties called in the game!  Ward Peterson of the Flyers and Ryan Boyette of the Wings both get roughing minor penalties, along with Peterson receiving a 10 minute unsportsmanlike penalty.  With eight minutes left in the game, the Flyers Mark Rogers gets waved out of the face-off circle in the Wings end.  He not only leaves the circle, but starts skating to his bench yapping all the way at the official!  He gets slapped with a ten minute misconduct and an early game exit.  A minute later, Trevor Wrobel of the Flyers picks up a hooking penalty on Scott Chodun, who both engage in a hotly disputed discussion, as they both incur ten minute misconduct penalties and both with early game exits.  As a symbolic gesture, a towel was tossed on the ice so the Flyers could dry their tears!
