HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

WEEK FOUR PLAYOFFS

WINGS    7    FLYERS   1

The Wings rattle off five final period goals, as center Zach Wagner completes his hat trick!  Singles for Terry Boyette, Ken Klutz, Steve Bayagich and Greg Stacey.  Wings sub goalie Bissell with a 12 save game.  Flyers sub Sarweh with their lone marker.

SHARKS   2     HABS   2

A game with huge ramifications as the hard fought tie indicates.  Back from a multiple game hiatus, Captain Nate McNaughrty scores the late game tying goal for the Sharks.  Mike Garlick with the Sharks initial goal.  Rob Rowling and “Angry” Joe score for the Habs.

BRUINS   6     HAWKS   1

Deuces wild for Mike “Padre” Nalepa and line-mate Jeff “Marine” Steiber.  Craig Bastuba and sub Scott Davenport also with Bruins goals.  Puck stopper Kris “King” Arthur stood tall in nets.  Brian Moore with the lone Hawks goal.  The Scott’s – Chodun and Davenport take turns chopping each other and hit the box in tandem.

WINGS   5     HABS   3

The Wings recover from last weeks double dip loss with a sweep today and position themselves in a very healthy position for the Sam Cupp Championship game.  Zach Wagner with the deuce.  Rob “Archie” Montgomery, Steve Bayagich and returning from his Bahama vacation – Steve “Mario” Lemieux with singles.  Right defenseman Ken Kluz with the hat trick assist.  Rob Rowling, Mark Rogers and finding some youth this week – “Angry” Joe scores again for the Frenchmen.  This was a stinging loss for the Habs, as they are now tied with the Sharks for second place entering the final two games next week.

HAWKS    5    FLYERS   4

The Hawks prevail in a must win situation as they are still mathematically  in the championship game equation.  Jordan Roberts and line-mate Brian Moore both with two goal games.  Rob “Larry” Giroux with the game winning goal.  Flyers sub Barker with the trick.  Mike Riddle with a goal.  Looking at the scoresheet, something just glaringly stands out to me.  All four Flyers goals were unassisted!  Possibly a microcosm of their issue plagued season.

SHARKS   5    BRUINS   3

Big win for the Fish, as they are now tied with the Habs for second place!  Nate McNaughtry and Mike Garlcik with two goal games for the Sharks.  Sub Andy Bergeson with a single.  Winger Scott Leslie with a three helper game.  As in game one – Jeff Steiber, Mike Nalepa and Craig Bastuba score for the Bruins, as they are now kaput in the playoffs.  The combustable Scott Davenport with a minor unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

In the 1957-58 season all three players on this famous line scored over 20 goals in the season.  This was the first time this happened in the NHL.
Name me the line and it’s three participants.
Hint – They played for the Boston Bruins.
The UKE line.
All three players are of Ukrainian descent.
