FROM PAUL ELSEY – PRESIDENT:

Tuesday night was not a good night at the rink. Mike Riddle had a heart attack on the bench during our pick up skate. Nate McCaughtry was next to him and assisted him . Two people from the lobby came over and gave him CPR. After a couple of minutes they had to use the AED. He then came back to us. Soon after that the EMS showed up. EMS said the two voluteers saved his life by performimg CPR and the AED.  So many people called them Angels and I agree.

Also, I spoke with Karen one of our great ladies who does the timekeeping for us.(Rink #2) I have known Karen since the fourth grade and Karen has just been told she has leukemia.

Suddenly refs, subs, and winning doesn’t seem that inportant. I would like everyone in the Sting Hockey Club to keep Mike and Karen in their thoughts and prayers.

FINAL WEEK – PLAYOFFS

HAWKS   3    SHARKS   0

The marquee game of the night!  Hawks one point up on the third place Sharks.  Hawks win and they clinch to play next week!  Mission accomplished, behind the stalwart shutout puck stopping efforts of arguably the best goalie in the league – Kris “King” Arthur!  Sniper John Poolton scores 37 ticks into the game and Brian Moore scores his first of two goals under two minutes later, to cement the victory!  No Sharks sightings.

 HABS    5    FLYERS   4

The Habs win their fourth game in a row, as they score their first two goals 17 seconds apart in period one!  Anthony Amato with a two goal game.  Singles for Pat “The Beast” Wosek, Paul “The Walking Dead” Erikson and sub Micolo who also had three helpers.  Flyers – Mark Rogers, Ward Peterson Billy Reiss and sub Scott Davenport.

WINGS   5    BRUINS   2

Wings jump out to a 4 zip lead and coast for the W!  Zach Wagner with the trick!  Singles for subs Rob Aughe and Zaschak.  Goaler Joe Polizzi with a strong game in nets.  Mike Nalepa and Jim Robie do the honor for the Bruins.

WINGS   10    SHARKS   6

A little warmup for next week, as the Wings top line of Zach Wagner(3 & 2), Steve Bayagich(3 &1) and Terry Boyette(1 & 3) total 13 points in the game and harpoon the Sharks!  Scott Chodun, Rob Giroux and former Detroit Tiger Robbie Grossman lookalike(See Picture Below) sub Rob Aughe also join in the goal fest.  Ironically, the Sharks jump out to a 2-0 lead as they score twice in the games first minute!  Deuces wild for John Cornish and Greg Stacey for the Sharks.  Nick Piccolo and sub “Angry” Joe Ventimiglio with singles.  This was a penalty free game.

BRUINS   5     FLYERS   4

This was the “Win for Mike Game”, as the Bruins dispatch the Flyers in honor of Mike Riddle.  Jeff “Marine” Steiber with the hat trick!  Singles for Rex Baker and Mike Nalepa.  Flyers – Rob Hergott, Billy Reiss, Brian Reath and sub Scott Davenport.  The talent laden Flyers were right in the Championship game mix until the past two weeks, as they go 0-4.

HAWKS   3     HABS   2

A very good hockey game, as the Hawks keep rolling with their second consecutive doubleheader sweep as they look forward to next week and snap the Habs four game winning streak.  Brian Moore, Steve Lemieux and Dave Rupprecht score for the Hawks.  Once again, Kris Arthur was strong in nets!  Paul Erikson and sub Micolo tally for French guys in this penalty free game.
