WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

QUITE A CONTRAST FROM LAST WEEK!  AFER 52 GOALS SCORED AND 34 PENALTIES LAST WEEK – WE HAVE 22 GOALS SCORED AND ONLY 20 PENALTIES THIS WEEK!  PLAYOFF HOCKEY!

FLYERS   3     WINGS   2

Flyers jump out to a 3-0 first period lead and behind the stellar net-minding of Kirk “Captain America” Larson hold on for the W!  Mike T. Brown, Joey Reiss and sub Danny Caton score for the Flyers.  Paul Violassi and Steve Bayagich with the Wings goals.

HABS   2    SHARKS   1

Pretty interesting fact here.  The Robs – Rowling and Olmstead both score at the 10:14 mark.  Rowling in the first period.  Olmstead in the final period.  Goaler Billy Schaugg with an excellent game in nets!  Pierre Dugas with the lone Shark power play goal.

HAWKS   2   BRUINS   1

Centers John Shelton and Brian Moore score for the Hawks as they play an excellent defensive game and limit the high scoring Bruins to ten shots on net!  Right wing Craig Bastuba with a breakaway backhand goal for the Bruins.  The last meeting between these teams, Hawks right winger Mike Miller scored his teams first four goals!  So the Bruins create the “Miller Rules” and assign back checking banshee winger Curt Lesnau to shut down Miller.  It worked to perfection!  The Bruins have lost their starting goaltender Dar for the rest of the playoffs due to a grade one concussion he suffered last week.  Get well Dar!

HABS   4    WINGS   1

Whoa!  Big Rob Rowling with all of his teams goals!  The big guy is having a great playoffs with 20 goals and 1 assist.  That is not a misprint – one assist!  As in game one – goaltender Billy Schaugg was stellar in nets!  Mike “Padre” Nalepa with the Wings only goal as they drop a deuce today.  Habs forward Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi with hooking and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties as his teammates killed off the 5 on 3.

FLYERS   3    HAWKS   1

The second place Flyers close the gap on the first place Hawks.  The Flyers have swept their past two doubleheaders.  Pat “The Beast” Wosek, Joey Reiss and on a highlight 4 on 1 mesmerizing, toe drag, between the skates goal – sub Rob Duff!  Again – “Captain America” Larson was outstanding in nets for the Flyers!  Marty Papesh with the Hawks marker.

BRUINS   1     SHARKS   1

An epic goaltender playoff battle between sub goalies Brian Miller of the Sharks and Mark Luscyki of the Bruins.  Both goalies were excellent between the pipes!  Playing with a broken skate blade, “Downtown” Jimmy Brown with the Sharks marker.  John McNeilly with a final period goal for the Bruins.  The Sharks are now winless in their past five games.  It looks pretty bleak for the Bruins, as they dominated in the regular season wrapping up first place with three weeks left in the season.  They have not duplicated that in the playoffs!  With the curfew clock winding down, Sharks sub defenseman Sammy Antonucci attempts to play the body and stand up Dr. Nate.  Well – because of the size differential of the players, it did not bode too well for Sammy!  Sammy unintentionally receives a healthy portion of Dr. Nate’s Warrior stick in the mouth as blood spews.  No penalty was called.  The not too happy Antonucci resembled Dracula going through the hand shake line, with blood dried up and dripping all over his mouth!
