SINCERE GET WELL WISH’S TO MIKE ALA, WHO SUFFERED A VERY SERIOUS HEAD INJURY LAST WEEK!

GET WELL MIKE – WE ARE ALL PRAYING AND PULLING FOR YOU!

WEEK THREE – PLAYOFFS

SHARKS   6    HAWKS   2

Total domination by the Sharks in this game!  It was not even close, as the Hawks requested the time keeper to just run the clock!  Billy Mac Jr. with a two goal game.  Singles for Jimmy Brown, Craig Bastuba, Joey Ventimiglio and sub Scott Bozyk.  Nate McNaughtry and sub Chris Isola score for the over matched Hawks as they sported four subs today.

BRUINS   4    WINGS   1

The Bruins were minus captain Rex Baker today who is still nursing last weeks upper body injury.  The Bruins reconstruct the big line of Mr. Mike Nalepa(4 Goals), John McNeilly(3 Helpers) and Joey Reiss(2 Helpers) as they achieve all their teams goals today!  Center Steve Wink with the lone Wings marker.

FLYERS   4    HABS   2

A little controversy here, as an unknown rookie referee waves off a goal and then is coerced by Flyers forward Rob Rowling that it was a goal and then changes his mind!  Rob also added another goal for a total of two goals in this game.  Pat “The Beast” Wosek and Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi also with Flyers goals.  Pierre Dugas and on a falling down backwards sweep of the puck – Mike Krueger tally for the Habs.  Eddie Sudzina of the Flyers and Jeff Curran of the Habs both with roughing minors.  It appears the Habs will be missing the heart and soul of their team – Captain Bryan Prentice for the rest of the playoffs with an upper body injury.  Tough loss.

BRUINS   4   HABS   3

The Bruins win their third straight game behind the goals of Mike “Padre” Nalepa, John McNeilly, Joey Reiss and Marty Papesh.  Scott Chodun, Larry “School Boy” Rowe and returning from parts unknown – sub Trevor Wrobel score for the Frenchmen.

SHARKS   4     FLYERS   4

An up and down free wheeling contest as both teams pick up a point.  Rob Rowling with the trick for the Flyers.  Danny Rea filled the slot from his left defensive position and scored the Flyers initial goal.  Billy Mac Jr. with another two goal game for the Sharks.  Singles for Ward Peterson and “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio.

HAWKS   3    WINGS   3

Hawks sub Frank Pedwaydon scores with the goalie pulled and the Hawks steal a point from the Wings.  Nate McNaughrty and defenseman John “Shifty” Shelton also score for the Hawks, who remain winless in the playoffs.  Brian Moore, Terry Boyettte, on a beautiful far side low goal and Steve Wink tally for the Wings.  Steve Winks goal was a carbon copy of Detroit Red Wings Alex Delvecchio’s goal in 1969 against the California Golden Seals!  I was listening to that game on my transistor radio on WJR laying in bed when Delvecchio scores off the face-off so quick, that no time elapsed on the stadium clock!  Same thing with Steve Wink’s goal!  It was a thing of beauty!

Condolences to Terrible Ted Lindsay who passed away Monday at age 93.
Everyone knows he wore #7 for the Wings.
But – after returning back to the Red Wings in 1964-65 he wore a different number.
What was the number?
Scroll down for the answer.
#15 – Normie Ullman had established himself as a future HOF player and wore #7.
