SHARKS    2    WINGS   1

Jeff Ivory scores late as the Sharks eke out the W.  The story of this game was Wings veteran goalie Muddy – who absolutely stood on his proverbial head!   Shades of Johnny Bower, Glenn Hall, Jacques Plante and Gump Worsley all rolled into one during their later years!  Experience does matter!  Nate McCoughtry with the Sharks initial maker as the Wings do a nice defensive job on the high scoring center.  Brian Moore with the Wings lone tally.  Steve Wink and Lou Suvak both hit the box together with slashing minors.  Imagine that!  The league welcomes back Ray Tonelli from an extended D.L. stint due to cataract surgery.  Ray says the puck never looked bigger!  Following the game, Sharks net minder Billy Jr. Mac says to confidant Jeff Ivory: ” Thank God Curt didn’t play for the Wings today – he owns me!”

FLYERS   3    HABS   2

Mike Nalepa scores the Flyers final two goals as they defeat the Frenchmen.  Sub John Cornish with the Flyers first goal.  Larry Rowe and sub Kyle Lybecker dent the twine for the Habs.  Both goalers – Billy Schaugg and Dar with excellent games in nets.

BRUINS    2    HAWKS   0

Da Bruins play a flawless game as “Smoking” Joe Polizzi had his glove hand working today, as he records the whitewash!  Jimmy “Jets” Galloway and Chuck Bowers do the honors for the Bruins.  No Hawks highlights.

SHARKS   9    FLYERS   2

Happy Halloween!  The Jekyll and Hyde Flyers came out today!  Either this Flyers team plays a very good game or they look like their attempting to defend a soccer net!  Not too much in between for this this club!  The Sharks make a tactical move and move defenseman Danny Shannon up to wing.  It worked, as the Shannon(3 & 1), Nate McCoughtry(1 & 5) and Scott Leslie(1 & 4) line total 15 points in the game!  Donnie Rivera chipped in with a deuce.  Even stay at home defenseman Lou Suvak joined the party with a goal!  Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi and Mike Nalepa score for the Flyers in this penalty free game.

WINGS   5    HAWKS   2

What in the world is going on with this currently underachieving Hawks team, as they drop their third consecutive doubleheader? Deuces wild for “Downtown” Jimmy Brown and “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio.  Mike Wilson with a single.  Center Brian Moore with four helpers.  Looking for some goal scoring assistance – Captain John “Shifty” Shelton with both of his teams goals.

HABS    6    BRUINS   3

The Habs score three times in each period as both teams split for the day.  The Bruins had a little self control problem in this game, as they incur five penalties and surrender two power play goals.  Habs – James Puffer(PP), Jack Prioux, Steve Bitter, Mike T. Brown and subs Kyle Lybecker(PP) and Scott Davenport.  Mike “King of the Road” Miller(2) and John McNeilly score for the men in yellow.

Who was the St. Louis Blues goalie who Stevie Yzerman beat in a scoreless double overtime game seven playoff game May 16, 1996?
