“A” LEAGUE WEEKLY UPDATE – OCTOBER 6, 2016

HABS   3    SHARKS   0

Bryan Prentice with the Habs first and last goal and sub Chas Kipp with the middle marker round out the Habs scoring.  Goaltender Dar was outstanding between the pipes.  No Shark sightings in this game.  Following the game, Dar was walking back to his locker room in the lobby and ran into a sign that was staioned by the concession area.  He rifles the sign with his goal stick and then starts dropping four letter words about who would be stupid enough to put a sign there!  Again – you gotta love hockey players!

BRUINS   5    WINGS   3

Deuces wild for John McNeilly and Mike “King the Road” Miller as the Bruins defeat the Wings.  Sub Mark Rogers with a beautiful shorthanded breakaway goal.  Defenseman Marty Papesh with three helpers.  “Downtown” Jimmy Brown, Terry Boyette and sub Hastings tally for the Wings.  Eddie Sudzina of the Bruins picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.  The at times combustable, Jimmy “Jets” Galloway with a ten minute unsportsmanlike penalty.

FLYERS    4    HAWKS   2

The Mikes – Riddle and Nalepa both score twice for the victorious Flyers.  Goaler Billy Schaugg with an excellent game in nets.  Returning from a lower body injury, centers Joey Reiss and John Shelton were the Hawks marksman in this penalty free game.

SHARKS   7    WINGS   3

Not a good sign for the Wings, when the Wings defenseman over skates the puck at center ice and the Sharks go in on a stone cold penalty shot type breakaway and score with 26 seconds gone in the game!  That was the first of two goals for Sharks left wing Scott Leslie.  Center Nate McCoughtry also with a deuce and three helpers to boot.  Singles for Jeff Ivory, Brian Barr and a blatantly off sides which was somehow not called as both teams stopped playing – “Midtown” Mikey Brown.  Wings – Curt Lesnau with two goals on the same shift and Ryan Boyette.  Jimmy Brown with three assists.

HABS   1    FLYERS   0

Snapping their five game winless streak in style  – the Frenchmen with a doubleheader shutout today!  The super focused Dar was unbeatable in nets today, as he surpasses Superman in career shutouts!  The Frenchmen were clearly bolstered by the return of holdout defenseman Pierre Dugas, who after a long chat with his agent, decided to return to the Habs.  Jack Prioux with the games only goal.  Flyers goaler Billy Schaugg also with a very solid game in nets.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

HAWKS   5   BRUINS   0

John “Shifty” Shelton and Steve “Mario” Lemieux both with the deuce in this game.  Joey Reiss with a single.  Hawks puck stopper Kirk “Captain America” Larson with the whitewash.  No Bruins highlights as they split for the day.
