HAWKS    3     WINGS   2

Congrats to the Sam Cupp Championship winning Hawks!  This game was as advertised!  Wings go up 2-0, only to see the never say die Hawks battle back for the W!  Retired fire fighter Jack Priaux with the game winning power play goal!  Defenseman Kenny Perko with a seeing eye power play goal and Mark Smyth with the Hawks initial marker.  Game MVP, Hawks goalie Brian Miller was simply outstanding in nets!  Especially in the first period as held the Hawks in the game.  Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence got the scoring started with a laser from the slot.  Sub Matt Dawson followed that up to put the Wings up 2-0.  Obviously a large part of the story was the Wings affinity to keep visiting the penalty box, and the Hawks took full advantage with two late power play markers.  Wings center Steve Orr was beating himself up after the game, as was foiled on a breakaway and by his own estimation lost 60 % of my face-offs!  A special thank you to Bruce “The Enabler” Gooel and his cohorts for the fantastic postgame afterglow!  Two weeks off and we go again!

2006 was Sidney Crosby’s rookie year.
He did NOT win the Calder Trophy(Rookie of the Year).
Who beat him out?
Scroll down for the answer.
