OFF TO THE FLORIDA PALMS TOURNAMENT IN SUNNY ST. PETE FLORIDA.

CURT’S CORNER WILL RETURN FOR THE MAY 2nd GAMES.

WEEK ONE OF THE SPRING/SUMMER SEASON

BRUINS   1    FLYERS   1

Bruins puck stopper Bobby Rutkoske and Flyers sub goalie Mullen steal the show in this 2017 opener.  Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins and Jeff “Dick” Tracy light the lamp in this defensive foray.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

SHARKS    4    HAWKS   1

Da Sharks break open a 1-1 game with three final period markers.  Picking up where he left off last season – Jimmy “Boog” Powell with a two goal game.  Singles for the Steve’s: Orr and Dietrich.  James George with the lone Hawks tally.  The Hawks were a little feisty this game as goal keep “Sugar” John Marchin picks up a slashing minor penalty and Al Platt racks up a two minute unsportsmanlike infraction.

WINGS    2    HABS   1

Goaltender Mike Schlimgen leads the Wings over the Frenchmen.  Brian Westenberg and Mary Sell do the honors for the Wings.  Kenny “Prime Time ” Wilkins with the Habs lone tally in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   8    HAWKS   3

This very talented Flyers team find their offense and put a hurting on the Hawks.  Deuces wild for Ronnie Meltsner and Stevie Lambert.  Singles for John Zuccarini(Also 3 Helpers), Joe Plati, Keith Lutz and Gerry Krause.  Jeff Tracy with the hat trick assist.  James Chapie(2) and Mark Smyth score for the Hawks.

BRUINS   1    WINGS   1

Wings sub Miller scores four minutes into the game.  Three minutes later, John McRae answers for the Bruins.  Both goalies – Mike Schlimgen and Bobby Rutkoske were outstanding between the pipes!

SHARKS    2    HABS   0

Hmm!  The reigning Sam Cup Champions Habs drop a deuce today.  A Championship hangover?  Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich and Barry Piornack with the Sharks goals.  Brian Miller with the well earned whitewash.  No French highlights.
