WEEK TWO – PLAYOFFS

SHARKS  1    WINGS   1

Goalers Brian Miller and Wings sub Mike Allemon put on a goaltending clinic inside the empty arena.  Gotta work on that fan base!  Wings sub Bobby Watson with a breakaway goal.  John Perini of the Sharks scores just 34 ticks into the final period for the tie.

BRUINS   3   FLYERS   2

The Bruins and net-minder Bobby Rutkoske upset the mighty Flyers!  Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins, Gary Enmark and with the game winning goal – Mike “Cherry” Charison score for the Bruins.  Playing very inspired hockey this season, Big Ben Haynes with both Flyers markers.

HABS  2    HAWKS   2

Hawks roar back from a two zip deficit to score twice in the final period.  Mark Munsterman with both Hawks goals.  The Mikes – Lawson and Ala score for the French guys.  Both goalies – “Sugar” John Marchin and Habs sub Paul Kaczmarek with strong games in nets.

SHARKS   4    BRUINS   1

Jimmy “Boog” Powell leads the way with a deuce for the Fish.  Singles for Steve Orr and Barry Piornack.  Once again goalie Brian Miller only allows one puck behind him.  John “Hal” McRae with that Bruins goal.

HAWKS   4    FLYERS   1

Are you kidding me?  What is going here?  After only one loss in a 28 game regular season games, the playoff reeling Flyers have now lost three out of four games in the playoffs!  This would certainly be a monumental collapse if they do not make the Championship game!  Let’s just say that Flyers goaler Mike Mostyn was a little annoyed in the locker room following the game.  As he has done all season – Jimmy George leads the Hawks with a deuce.  Singles for Al Platt and retiree Dave “Buckeye” Wahl.  Ronnie Meltsner with the lone Flyers highlight.

WINGS   5   HABS   3

Obviously over his physical maladies of the past – Wings sub Bob “Bugsy” Watson with the hat trick!  Fellow sub Lawson and Brian Belloli also with goals.  Sub net-minder Mike Allemon with an assist on Watson’s first goal.  “Gentleman” Don Courtley, Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence and Mike Ala(SH) score for the Frenchmen in this very chippy contest.  Eight penalties in all, as no strangers to the penalty box – Bobby Watson and Peter Gibb both receive roughing minor penalties.  Followed by Pat Collins(Holding) and Kenny Wilkins(Roughing) exchanging pleasantries.
