WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

WITH ONE WEEK REMAINING IN THE PLAYOFFS – WE STILL HAVE A LOGJAM!

FIVE OUT OF THE SIX TEAMS STILL HAVE A CHANCE!

THEIR ARE FOUR POINTS SEPARATING TEAM FIVE FROM TEAM ONE!

FLYERS    2    WINGS   1

Chuck Mouraine goes five hole for the game winning Flyers goal!  Billy Hagen with the Flyers initial goal.  Sub puck stopper Rick “Ticker” Chauvin was like a sponge in nets – allowing zero rebounds!  Mark Smyth was the only Wing to solve Ticker with a power play marker.  The Flyers played this game reminiscent of their namesakes – “The Broadstreet Bullies” of the 70’s.  Six penalties in all – highlighted by Flyers Captain Howard Smith’s solo four minute roughing penalty and game misconduct due to the injury of opponent Marty Sell.

HAWKS   2     SHARKS   2

Sniper Ronnie Meltsner scores his second goal of the game, to put the Sharks up 2-1 with just under six minutes left.  Then – Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins scores his second goal of the game a minute later for the tie.  Both goalies – Mike Mostyn of the Hawks and “Sugar” John Marchin of the Sharks with excellent games in nets.  Pete Gibb of the Hawks incurs a solo roughing minor penalty.

HABS    5    FLYERS   1

With their whole team intact – the flying Frenchmen dump the Flyers.  I love this guys name!  Curt Bailey with the tour du chapeau!  Singles for Bruce Gooel and John Perini.  Sir Kevin Beebe was stellar between the pipes!  Next year’s captain, Ryan O’Rourke with the lone Flyer’s goal in this penalty free game.  This was a tough loss for the Flyers, as they lead the playoff standings by a precarious one point!

HAWKS   2    BRUINS   0

Hawks sub “Magnum” Higgins with both their goals!  Mike Mostyn posts the whitewash.  Hawks enforcer Randy Debeul and Bruins sub “Scowling” Scott Leslie both with simultaneous roughing minor penalties.  Joe Plati of the Bruins with a solo roughing penalty late in the game.

WINGS    7     BRUINS   4

The Wings defeat the Bruins with four subs in their lineup and minus the injured Marty Sell.  Sub John Zuccarini with a huge 2 & 3 game!  Singles for Mark Smyth, Brian Belloli and subs Paulie “Jay” Giles, “Mickey” Brantley and Lawson.  Bruins – Rick Batchelder, Robbie Porter, Adam Godard and sub Scott Leslie. No penalties in this contest.

HABS   3     SHARKS   1

The Habs sweep for the day as they now are one point behind the top spot Flyers!  David Walters, Curt Bailey and Bruce Gooel tally for the Habs.  Once again – Sir Kevin Beebe stood tall in nets!  James George with the lone Shark goal.
