WEEK ONE – PLAYOFFS

HABS    6    SHARKS   4

So much for low scoring and tight defensive playoff hockey!  Big Ben Haynes scores 15 ticks into the game for the Sharks.  Not to be outdone – Habs sub Lawson ties the game up just 11 seconds later to set the run and gun tone of this contest!  Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins, who stated before the game to his team, to forget about the regular season – we are  built to win the playoffs – with a two goal game!  Singles for John Perini, Steve Orr and David Walters.  “Bruising” Joe Grusling with three helpers.  Sharks – Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins, and subs “Magnum” Higgins and B. Westenberg.  No trips to the sin bin for either team.

BRUINS   1    HAWKS    1

Now this is playoff hockey!  Goalers Bobby Rutkoske and Brian Miller shine in the nets!  Jimmy George puts the Hawks in front with a final period goal.  The Bruins pull their goalie and Adam Godard finds the back of the net for the Bruins in this hard earned tie!

WINGS   3    FLYERS   2

Grand Rapids call up Vigi buries the game winner with a minute and a half left in the game!  Paulie “Jay” Giles and Mike “Cherry” Charison with first period Wings markers.  The speedy  and elusive Mike Ala with both Flyers goals.  The Mikes – Schlimgen and Mostyn were excellent between the pipes!

HAWKS    5    WINGS   3

Jimmy George leads the way with a 2 & 3 game for the playoff ready surging Hawks!  Singles for Brian Belloli, Al Pyc and Parker ‘You Can Call Me” Johnson.  Parker was at the Red Wings game Saturday afternoon picking up some scoring pointers!  I guess it worked!  Barry Piornack, and subs Scott Shurin and “Hal” McCrae tally for the Wings in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   7    SHARKS    1

The Flyers pound the sub laden Sharks!  The Sharks had six subs today!  It was reported that Sharks scoring machine and vocal and inspirational leader Kevin Mahon was spotted at the Texas/Mexico border installing some sort of wall.  Deuces wild for Mike Ala and Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel.  Singles for Dr. Keri Topouzian, Al Platt and Jeffry Frankel.  Goalie Mike Mostyn with a seven save game.  Sub “Krause” with the Sharks lone goal and highlight.

BRUINS   3     HABS    3

Bruins tie again!  Steve Orr of the Habs scores two minutes into the game.  18 seconds later, Scott Leslie ties it up for the Bruins.  Habs go up 3-1 with first period goals by Kenny Wilkins and Joe Grusling.  Dougie Roehl scores 13 ticks into the final period for the Bruins and as in game one – Adam Godard with the Bruins game tying goal.  Scott Leslie picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.

This is a pretty cool trivia question.
Which three current NHL head coaches are natives of Michigan?

Scroll down for the answer.
