PLAYOFFS – WEEK TWO

HE CAN’T FOOL US!

MICHIGAN STATE GRADUATE DEFENSIVE LINEMEN KENNY WILLEKES, IS MOONLIGHTING IN THE TUESDAY LEAGUE AS KENNY “PRIME TIME” WILKINS, AS HE GETS READY FOR THE NFL COMBINE NEXT MONTH!

HAWKS   2    HABS   2

Make no mistake!  The catalyst of this scrappy Habs team is Captain Kenny Wilkins or is it Willekes?  Marty Sell scores on a beautiful crafted tip from the right point from Kenny Wilkins to tie the game up 1-1.  Then Wilkins sends a cannonading drive from the right point to tie the game up 2-2, as the Habs kill a game ending penalty to conclude in a tie.  The Hawks score on two stunning solo rushes from Robbie “Hurricane” Halhuber and Barry Piornack.

SHARKS   5     WINGS   4

Big Ben Haynes scores twice for the Fish as they hold off the Wings.  Singles for Paulie Polizzi, Eddie Higgins and sub Higgins.  Mark Smyth records the hat trick for the Wings.  Stalwart defenseman Al “Mike” Phipps with the final marker.

BRUINS   3    FLYERS   1

A very well tight to the vest played game as both goalies – Bobby Rutkoske and Flyers net-minder Rick “Ticker” Chauvin play excellent games in the nets!  Rick Batchelder, Chuck Mouraine and Adam Godard do the honors for the men in yellow.  Bruce Gooel with the lone Flyers goal.  Randy Debeul of the Bruins and Robbie Porter of the Flyers both receive roughing minor penalties late in the game.

BRUINS   3    SHARKS   0

Goalie Bobby Rutkoske was on his game today, only allowing one puck to get by him!  Steve “Mario” Lemieux with the Bruins first two markers.  Chuck Mouraine with their final goal.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

HAWKS    5   FLYERS   0

The only undefeated team in the playoffs dominate this game!  Hawks goalie Al Rice with his second shutout of the playoffs.  Center Billy Hagen with a two goal game. Singles for Joe Plati, Rob Halhuber and Curt Lesnau.  Hard to pinpoint what is going on with the Flyers, as they have yet to win a game in the playoffs.  The two point head start has quickly evaporated for them, as they seemed to lack any sense of urgency.  Even with their goalie screaming loud “encouraging” adjectives at them!

WINGS   5    HABS   3

The Wings split on the day behind the two goal effort of sub “Debus” Debus.  JP(Also 3 Helpers), David “Killer” Walters and Jimmy George round out the Wings scoring.  Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence(2) and sub Matt Dawson tally for the Frenchmen.  Bo Altherr of the Wings incurs a solo roughing minor penalty.

In honor of the 40 year anniversary of the Miracle on Ice.
Here’s an easy one.
Who was the captain of that team?
