THE MICHIGAN STING ORGANIZATION EXTENDS IT’S SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF AL PLATT.

BRUINS    5    SHARKS   1

0-0 entering the final period then the men in yellow took over!  Chuck Mouraine, Rick Batchelder, Jimmy George, Mike Harke and Rob “The Rifleman” Duncan score for the Bruins.  Net-minder Mike Mostyn was excellent between the pipes.  Al Phipps with the lone Shark goal in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   6    WINGS   3

Flyers score five times in period one.  The last two goals in a ten second span!  In memory of his close friend Al – Bruce Gooel with the hat trick!  Singles for Robert E. Lee(Also 3 Helpers), Jimmy “Boog” Powell and sub “Magnum” Higgins.  Wings – Billy Hagen(2) and Ronnie Meltsner.  The Wings had this guy subbing for them today named John Schroder.  Welcome back long time Sting member!  This was a penalty free game.

HAWKS   3    HABS   0

The Hawks snap a scoreless tie in the final period behind the two goal effort of Al Pyc.  Sub Niecalek with their initial goal.  Goal-keep Bobby Rutkoske spins the white wash.  No French highlights.

BRUINS    4    FLYERS   2

Da Bruins sweep for the day!  Chuck Mouraine, James George, Adam Godard and Mike Harke do the honors for the Bruins.  Bruce Gooel and Mike “Cherry” Charison find the back of the net for the Flyers, as they split on the day.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

HAWKS   3    SHARKS   1

The top spot Hawks remain undefeated on the season as they once again sweep.  The Sharks played a great game as they closed the gap to 2-1 with their goalie pulled.  Russian sub Niecalek with the Hawks final two goals – the last one an empty netter.  Steve Orr with the Hawks first marker.  As in game one – Al Phipps scores the Sharks only goal.  Kudos to Sharks goalie Mike Allemon, who had the Hawks talking to themselves, as he turned shot after shot away and stopped a penalty shot to boot!

HABS   4    WINGS   2

Jeff Ivory leads the Habs with the deuce.  Singles for Jeff “Dick” Tracy and Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence.  Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins with the tour du chapeau assist.  Sniper Ronnie Meltsner with both Wings goals.  Things got a little ugly at games end, as Habs goalie “Sir Kevin Beebe(Cross Check) and the Wings Paulie “Jay” Giles(Slash, Ten minute unsportsmanlike conduct and a ten minute abuse of officials) engage in a very spirited profane dialogue!  Veteran referee’s Jimmy McCauley and Jerry Garzka had their hands full in this one!

Who is the last Detroit Red Wing to lead his team in points and penalty minutes in a season?
Scroll down for the answer.
Terrible Ted Lindsay – 1949-50 season.
