A WEEK BEFORE OLYMPIA STADIUM WAS DEMOLISHED IN 1987,

MYSELF AND MY WIFE, DAD AND BROTHER WENT INTO OLYMPIA STADIUM.

PRIED OPEN THE PLYWOOD BACK DOOR.

BELOW ARE SOME PICTURES FROM THAT SPECIAL EXCURSION!

THE BACK DOOR WE WENT IN.

NOTICE THE “O’ MISSING ON TOP.

SOMEONE GOT IT!  UNBELIEVABLE!

MARQUEE LETTERS GONE!

A CARCASS OF THE OVER HANGING SCOREBOARD!

THE PROMENADE CONNECTED SEATS, PROUDLY DISPLACED IN MY BASEMENT!

BRUINS   1     WINGS   1

As the score indicates – both goalies – Dave Gaskey and Mike Schlimgen shine in nets!  Playing a great game for the Wings and a constant threat on the ice – Bobby Watson with their goal.  The Wings defensive tandem of the Bruce’s- Gooel and Buntin play shutdown hockey!  Bruins sub Mike Garlick with a beautiful one on one shake and bake top shelf goal!

HABS   3    SHARKS   1

“Ticker” and the Habs( Sounds Like a Musical Group) play a great defensive game and defeat the Sharks.  Al Pyc starts the scoring for the Habs just under the two minute mark of the first period.  Mike Ala and sub Matt Dawson also with French goals.  Ben Haynes scores for the Fish in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   4    HAWKS   1

The Flyers score twice in each period to declaw the Hawks.  Bob Stempian(PP), Jimmy George, Pete Ludwig and Pat “Crazy Legs” Berry tally for the Flyers.  Sammy Bonanno with the Hawks marker.  Jeff Morton of the Hawks picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.

WINGS   4    SHARKS   1

The Wings continue their fine play in today’s games as they harpoon the Sharks.  Bob “Bugsy” Watson goes twine twice for the Wings.  The Mikes – Lawson and Harke with singles.  Goaler Dave Gaskey only allows one goal past him again!  As in game one – Ben Haynes with the lone Shark goal.  This was a penalty free game.

HABS   4     FLYERS   3

The Habs sweep on the day, as sub Adam Godard scores a minute into the game!  Fellow sub Matt Lawson, Mike Ala and playing an overall great game – Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins with singles.  Puck stopper “Ticker” had the Flyers shaking their heads!  Pat Berry, Bob Stempian and sub Ken Debus with the Flyers goals in this penalty free game.  Jimmy George with assists on all three Flyers goals!

BRUINS   7      HAWKS   3

The Hawks jump out to an early 2-0 lead, only to see the Bruins score twice in a twelve second span first period span to tie it up!  It was all Bruins from there, as they get milage from their newly formed MPG line of Chuck Mouraine(1 & 4), Joe Plati(2 Goals) and sub Mike Garlick(3 & 1) as they total 11 points in the game!  For some reason, the Hawks matched up their second line with the Bruins first line(MPG LINE).  The strategy failed miserably!  Bo Altherr also with a Bruins goal.  The Hawks top line did all of their scoring – Sammy Bonanno, Jeff Morton and sub Paul Violassi, as the Hawks sported four subs today.  The strange anomaly continues, as the Bruins once again take three out of four points!  Six out of the nine weeks so far this season, the Bruins have taken three out of four points!  Call it successfully consistent I guess!  The Bruins were minus Captain Steve Lemieux today, as he will miss several weeks with an upper body injury.
