BACK FROM THE SUNSHINE STATE!

BRUINS   2    HABS    1

A very nice goaltending battle going between the Bruins Bobby Rutkoske and the Habs net-minder as the game is scoreless entering the final stanza.  Steve Lemieux and Jim “Jacques” Lemire then tally for the Bruins.  Mike Ala with a late goal for the Habs.

FLYERS    3    SHARKS   2

The visiting Flyers score all their goals in the first period and hold on for the W.  Sub goaler Rick “Ticker” Chauvin with an excellent game in nets.  General Robert E. Lee with a two goal game for the Flyers.  Al Sparks with their middle marker.  Pat Collins and Benny Hudson tally for the Fish.

WINGS    2     HAWKS    1

A very nice win for the Wings, as they play their first shift of the game minus a goalie and do not allow a shot on net as the puck never left their zone!  A very special shout-out to emergency goalie “Smoking” Joe Polizzi who played fantastic in nets for the Wings and then played for the Habs in game two as their goalie went down with a lower body injury in game one.  Thanks Joe! Then Stopper shows up and replaces Polizzi for the games last three minutes and and is credited with the win.  Mark Smyth buries the game winning goal with 25 ticks left on the arena clock for a stirring Wings victory.  Paulie “Jay” Giles with their initial marker.  Curt Lesnau with the lone Hawks goal.

HAWKS   4    HABS   0

The last place Hawks play a dominating game to extend the Habs winless streak to six games.  Keith Foucher and subs Matt Lawson subbing for Dad Mike, wearing the most fashionable do-rag in the league Kevin “Jerry” Maguire and finally converting on his fourth breakaway of the game – Bob “Bugsy” Watson round out the Hawks scoring.  Goalie Al Rice with a relatively light workload shutout.  “Not too Gentlemanly” Don Courtley picks ups a solo roughing minor penalty.

WINGS   4    FLYERS    4

The top spot Flyers keep coming back as the game ends in a tie.  Once again General Lee with the deuce.  Singles for Robbie Porter and Bruce Gooel.  The Wings play a strong game as Bo Altherr, Al Pyc, Jimmy George and Dave “Killer” Walters convert.   JP with the hat trick assist.

SHARKS   3     BRUINS   2

Both teams split on the day.  Sharks go up 3-0 after period one only to see the Bruins score two final period power play goals to make it close.  Pat Collins, Ben Haynes and Steve Dietrich score for the Sharks.  Goaler Kenny Lipschutz was stellar in nets.  Steve Lemieux and sub “Debus” Debus score for the men in yellow.    The Sharks Benny Hudson with a three penalty game and an early game exit.  Returning to his cantankerous self, the Sharks Chris Zanke with a four minute unnecessary roughing penalty that made things definitely interesting at games end.

Currently there are seven NHL players with over 700 goals.

Alex Ovechkin soon to be included.
