AND STILL IN THE HUNT!

THE TOP TWO TEAMS GET IN THE SAM CUPP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

HABS   2     SHARKS   2

Sharks sub Gary Szalanski goes five hole with just eight seconds left on the arena clock to steal the W away from the Frenchmen!  Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins with the Sharks initial marker.  Kenny “Primetime” Wilkins and Steve Orr with first period goals for the Habs.  Both fired up puck stoppers – the Sharks Brian “Top Dog” Miller and Sir Kevin Beebe with excellent games in nets!  First time in a while I can remember that both goalies receive penalties in a game!  Sir Kevin for body checking – really?  And Mr. Miller for tripping.  Barry Piornack of the Sharks picks up a solo roughing minor infraction in this very chippy affair.

BRUINS   2    HAWKS   0

Providence call up Chuck Mouraine scores two minutes into the game and that was enough for the Bruins to upend the Hawks.  Kaczmarek with a very late first period insurance goal.  Bobby Rutkoske with the whitewash for the men in yellow.  No Hawks highlights in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   5    WINGS   2

John Zuccarini with the deuce for the top spot Flyers.  Singles for Ben Haynes, Jimmy George and Brian Belloli.  Goaler Mike Schlimgen with an assist on Zuccarini’s second goal.  John McRae and Brian Westenberg with the Wings markers.

SHARKS   4    BRUINS   0

Sharks sub Gary Szalanski with the deuce for the Fish.  Gary will no longer be a sub next season, as he was the Sharks top pick in the 2018 spring/summer season.  Steve “Barney Miler” Dietrich and Barry Piornack also with Sharks goals, who remain undefeated in their previous five games.  Goaler Brian Miller who always comes to play – with the shutout!  No Bruins highlights.

HABS   5    WINGS   3

The Habs deal a big blow to the Wings championship game aspirations, as the Wings drop a deuce today!  “Gentleman” Don Courtley with a two goal game for the Habs.  Singles for Terry Masserant and subs Chapie and Rick Batchelder.  Never say this guy doesn’t come to play!  Bob “Bugsy” Watson with all three Wings goals in an outstanding  hat trick effort!  No trips to the box for either team.

HAWKS   4   FLYERS   2

Hmm!  Were the Flyers a little overconfident in this game!  Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel scores his first of two goals just 22 ticks into the contest, as the Hawks ambush the Flyers!  Gary Enmark and sub Steve “Mario” Lemieux also with Hawks goals.  Peter Gibb with the hat trick assist.  Hawks sub puck stopper Rick “Ticker” Chauvin was unbelievable in this game, with save after astonishing save!  John Zuccarini and Brian Belloli score for the Flyers.

What number did 1977-78 number one draft pick Dale McCourt wear for the Detroit Red Wings?

Surprisedly he wore #10 for the Wings.
