WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

WITH ONE LEFT IN THE PLAYOFFS(2 GAMES) THE RACE IS A BARN BURNER!

FLYERS LEAD WITH 13 POINTS – A PROVERBIAL LOCK FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

FOLLOWED BY THE HABS WITH 11 AND

THE BRUINS AND WINGS WITH 9!

HABS   4    SHARKS   0

Two goals in each period and the shutout goaltending of Sir Kevin Beebe do the job for the Frenchmen.  Mike Lawson with a two goal game.  Singles for Steve Orr and David Walters.  No Shark sightings in this game!

BRUINS   3    HAWKS   2

The Bruins dig deep into their farm system and call up some old phenom name Danny Shannon.  Mr. Shannon delivers with all three Bruins goals!  The game winner with just 54 ticks into the final period.  The Hawks stage a furious rally only to just fall short.  Al Pyc and Ronnie Meltsner tally for the Hawks in this penalty free game.

FLYERS   3     WINGS   3

Wings score twice within 17 seconds of the final period to go up 3-1.  A minute later, the Flyers score two goals within a three minute span to tie the game up!  That’s the way it ended.  Mike Charison, Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence and sub Vigi score for the Wings.  Terry Masserant, John Zuccarini and sub “Magnum” Higgins with the Flyers markers in this penalty free contest.

HAWKS    5   FLYERS   2

The Hawks ambush the Flyers!  A Flyer win in this game would have wrapped up the top spot and a Championship game appearance.  But – it should only delay the inevitable.  “Gentleman” Don Courtley with the trick for the Hawks!  Singles for Al Pyc and Jimmy George.  Mike Ala and Gary Enmark score for the Flyers in another penalty free game.

WINGS    4    HABS   2

The Wings score twice in each period to pick up three points on the day.  Barry Piornack, Cam Lawrence, Stevie Lambert and sub Vigi score for the Wings.  This was a tough loss for the Frenchmen as they battle for a Championship game berth.  Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins and John Perini do the honors for the Habs.  A strange thing happened in the first period, as the Wings Mikey Declercq picks up an interference penalty as the Habs are getting called for a too many players on the ice infraction at the same time.  End result – 4  on 4.

BRUINS   5    SHARKS   1

The Bruins sweep for the day as they make a late push for a Championship game berth.  As in game one, another farm clubber for the Bruins , “Scowling” Scott Leslie with the trick!  Adam Godard(Also 3 Helpers) and Rick Batchelder with singles.  Goaltender Bobby Rutkoske with a stellar effort between the pipes.  Kevin Mahon with the Sharks only goal of the day, as they were blanked in game one.  Bruins sub “Freddy” Lynn registers a solo roughing minor penalty.
