CONGRATS TO THE FLYERS AND THE SHARKS, WHO WILL BATTLE IT OUT IN NEXT WEEKS SAM CUPP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!  DISCOUNT TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE OPC (OLDER PEOPLE’S COMMISSION) IN ROCHESTER!

WEEK FIVE – PLAYOFFS

FLYERS   2    HABS   2

Flyers up two zip entering the final period.  Mike Ala and sub Chapie score final period goals for the Frenchmen as they tie the top spot Flyers.  Al Sparks and Brian Belloli tally for the Flyers.  Both puck stoppers – Sir Kevin Beebe and Flyers call up, from the deep minors – Rick “Ticker” Chauvin were outstanding in nets!

SHARKS   3     HAWKS   3

The Hawks relish in the spoiler mode, as they possibly their best game of the season only to see Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins tie the game up late for the Fish.  Joe Plati and Al “Mike” Phipps also with Sharks markers.  Rockford call up Steve “Mario” Lemieux with the deuce for the Hawks.  Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel also with a Hawks goal.  No trips to the sin bin for either team.

BRUINS   5    WINGS   4

Rob “The Rifleman” Duncan and Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence both score twice for the Bruins, as they put a serious dent in the Wings Championship game aspirations!  Bruins sub Harke with their final and game winning goal.  John “Hal” McRae(2), Paulie “Jay” Giles and Bob “Bugsy” Watson were the Wings marksman.

SHARKS   6     WINGS   3

Da Sharks clinch Championship game honors as they remain undefeated in their final seven games!  Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich and “Freddy” Lynn with two goal games for the Sharks.  Singles for Eddie Higgins and sub Gary Szalanski.  As in game one – John McRae scores twice in this must win game for the Wings.  Counselor Tom McHugh with the Wings middle marker.  Not good!  The Sharks Mark Nuss was very incorrigible in this game, as he picks up a five minute major slashing and a game misconduct penalties and an early shower.  Hopefully the water was hot – probably not!  The game misconduct could deem Mr. Nuss ineligible for next weeks Championship game.  Two minutes later, the Sharks Barry Piornack racks up a minor unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.  The Sharks were able to kill off these multiple penalties in a stellar PK effort!

FLYERS   2     BRUINS   0

A goaltending clinic was put on by winning goalie Rick “Ticker” Chauvin and the Bruins Bobby Rutkoske in this nip and tuck contest!  Brian Belloli with the game winning Flyers goal.  James George with the late empty net insurance marker.

HABS   3      HAWKS   2

Habs up 3-0 and then hold on for dear life as the Hawks score twice late in the final stanza.  Steve Orr, Mike Ala and “Gentleman” Don Courtley score for the Habs.  Gary Enmark and sub Chuck Mouraine with the Hawks goals.
