SAM CUPP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

HABS   5    BRUINS   2

How bout them Habs!  Back to back Sam Cupp Championships!  The forechecking Frenchmen play an overall dominating game and squeeze the life out of the Bruins, who didn’t get many scoring opportunities.  Game MVP “Gentleman” Don Courtley with the deuce.  In a postgame interview, Big Don was quoted as saying: “My overwhelming success is a factor of my teammates!”  Robert Stempian, Chris Raber and sub Matt Lawson with singles.  Seven time Championship game winner John “The Little Ball of Hate” Perini with the hat trick assist.  The Habs capitalized with two power play goals.  Matt’s Dad Mike Lawson and Ronnie Meltsner score for the men in yellow.  Bruins Captain Bob ‘Bugsy” Watson was foiled on two early game breakaways!  This was the Bruins first playoff loss!  Ouch!  Their two ties were to these very same Habs!  A good time was had by all at the postgame gathering at Joe Kools!

Who scored the last goal at Joe Louis Arena?
Riley Sheahan scored his first two goals of the year for the Red Wings
that game despite being in the lineup the entire year!
