SINCERE GET WELL WISH’S TO MIKE ALA, WHO SUFFERED A VERY SERIOUS HEAD INJURY LAST WEEK!

GET WELL MIKE – WE ARE ALL PRAYING AND PULLING FOR YOU!

WEEK THREE – PLAYOFFS

HAWKS   8     SHARKS   0

It was all Hawks this game as they use their talons to scoop up and spit out the Fish!  Smooth skating Steve Orr with the hat trick.  Singles for Mark Smyth, Gary Enmark, Al Pyc and subs Lawson and delving deep into their minor league system – Mike Krueger, who also registered three helpers.  Goal-keep Bobby Rutkoske with a pretty easy whitewash.  Absolutely zero Shark sightings in this penalty free game!

WINGS   2    BRUINS   1

You gotta watch this guy!  Ronnie Meltsner goes far side low for the game winning goal to snap a 1-1 final period tie.  Grizzled veteran John Schroder with the Wings initial marker.  Adam Godard with the Bruins tally.  Winning goalie Mike Schlimgen and the Bruins Mike Mostyn both with excellent games between the pipes!

HABS   5    FLYERS   4

Jeff Ivory scores his second goal of the game with just over a buck and change left in the contest, for a stirring French win!  11 goals in 5 playoff games for Mr. Ivory!  Joe Plati -“Is he still playing?” also with a two goal game.  Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence also with a goal.  Flyers – Brian Belloli(2), Robert E. Lee and sub “Magnum” Higgins.  This was a penalty free game.

BRUINS    6    HABS   4

4-4 entering the final stanza.  Then Mr. Chuck Mouraine scores his fourth goal of the game, followed two minutes later by Rick Batchelder’s goal to send the Bruins to the W.  Sub Chris Isola pitched in with a goal.  The Bruins kept the red hot Jeff Ivory off of the score sheet for the first time in these playoffs!  Jeff “Dick” Tracy tommy guns in the hat trick for the Habs.  Donald Courtley with the Habs final marker.

FLYERS   7    SHARKS   2

Robert E. Lee with the trick for the Flyers.  Sub Higgins with the deuce.  Singles for Mike “Cherry” Charison and returning from parts unknown(Was it Russia?) – sub Kevin Mahon!  Al Phipps and Eddie Higgins score for the Sharks, who had a forgettable doubleheader today!  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

HAWKS   4     WINGS   0

A rarity indeed!  Puck stopper Bobby Rutkoske with a doubleheader shutout today!  Nice job Bobby!  Mark Smyth, Steve Orr, Terry Masserant and sub Lawson score for theHawks.  No Wings highlights.

Condolences to Terrible Ted Lindsay who passed away Monday at age 93.
Everyone knows he wore #7 for the Wings.
But – after returning back to the Red Wings in 1964-65 he wore a different number.
What was the number?
Scroll down for the answer.
#15 – Normie Ullman had established himself as a future HOF player and wore #7.
