“R” LEAGUE WEEKLY UPDATE – MAY 9, 2017
FLYERS 2 HAWKS 2
A very well played and entertaining contest. John Zuccarini ties the game up in the final period with his second marker of the game. James George and Mark Smyth with the Hawks goals. Both puck stoppers – “Sugar” John Marchin and Mike Mostyn with several high light reel saves! No trips to the penalty box for either squad.
WINGS 2 BRUINS 0
Mike Schlingen spins the white wash for the visiting Wings. Randy Debuel with the game winning goal and Al Sparks with the insurance goal for the Wings. No Bruins highlights. As witnessed in the past. The Wings Randy Debuel is no stranger to the sin bin. Mr. Debuel and John McRae both receive roughing minor penalties, along with Debuel adding on a ten minute unsportsmanlike misconduct infraction, just for good measure.
SHARKS 3 HABS 3
Sharks go up 3 zip after the first period. The Habs score their first two goals in a ten second span and then David Walters ties the game up on the power play. Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence and sub Lawson also with French goals. John Perini, Barry Piornack and Doug Wargo tally for the Fish. With two seconds left in the game, Kenny Wilkins chops(Slashing) Barry Piornack(Roughing) and they hit the box in tandem.
FLYERS 2 HABS 2
The third tie of the night! Both goalies – Mike Mostyn and Sir Kevin Beebe with excellent games between the pipes! As in game one – John Zuccarini scores both of his teams goals! “Bruising” Joe Grusling and after a lengthy Michigan Sting sabbatical – Peter Gibb tally for the Habs. The top spot Flyers are undefeated in their past seven games. No penalties in the game.
HAWKS 9 BRUINS 2
Every once in a while you have one of these games. It happened in this one, as the Hawks jump out to a 6-0 first period lead and run roughshod over the Bruins, who are winless in their last five games. Mark Smyth with the trick. Deuces wild for Dave “Buckeye” Wall, Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel and James George. Teddy Evans with three helpers. John McRae and Scott Shurin with the Bruins goals in another penalty free game.
SHARKS 4 WINGS 3
John Perini leads the Sharks with a two goal game. Singles for Chris Zanke and Jimmy “One Skate” Sauter. Wings sub Dougie Roehl(2) and Keri Topouzian with the Wings markers.
