“R” LEAGUE WEEKLY UPDATE – OCTOBER 17, 2017
BRUINS 1 FLYERS 0
Behind the brilliant puck stopping of net-minder Bobby Rutkoske, the Bruins record a well earned W over the vary talented Flyers! John Perini with the games only goal! Flyers power forward Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.
HABS 2 WINGS 1
“Gentleman” Don Courltey and Steve Orr(GW) score final period goals for the Frenchmen. “Bruising” Joe Grusling assisted on both goals. Net-minder Sir Kevin Beebe was outstanding between the pipes, showcasing his gumby like style of goaltending! Al Pyc with the lone Wings marker.
SHARKS 4 HAWKS 3
The Sharks spread out the scoring, as Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich snaps a 3-3 tie for the final period game winning goal! Barry Piornack, Joe Plati and Pat Collins round out the Sharks scoring. Peter Gibb, Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel and super sub Gary Szalanski tally for the Hawks.
FLYERS 6 HAWKS 2
The host first place Flyers receive goals from six different players in this rout of the last place Hawks, who have not won in their last seven contests! Punk rock guitarist Keith Lutz, Brian Belloli, Keith Foucher, Jimmy George, John Zuccarini and one of my all time favorite players – grizzled veteran George Gray dent the twine for the Flyers. Paul Ericson and scoring in his sixth consecutive game – Peter Gibb tally for the Hawks.
BRUINS 1 WINGS 0
Bobby Rutkoske – Bobby Rutkoske! A rare double shutout in any league, for the Bruins net-minder! I know this feat has happened before – a double shutout. But to my recollection – I do not remember back to back 1-0 shutouts! Kudos to the Bruins and Mr. Rutkoske! Cam Lawrence with a late final period bad angle shot for the only goal of the game! These Bruins are undefeated in their past three doubleheaders! The Wings drop a very tough deuce today as they lose both games by a single goal!
HABS 4 SHARKS 2
Down 2-0, the Sharks score twice within a three minute span in the final period to tie the game up 2-2, only to see the Habs score twice in the games final minute, to sweep for the day! The league’s leading scorer and what a steal in the third round draft – Steve Orr, Mike Lawson, Joe Grusling and Kenny “Primetime” Wilkins tally for the Frenchmen. Steve Dietrich and sub Lawson with the Sharks goals.
