A VERY POIGNANT MOMENT AT THE 16 AND UNDER TOURNAMENT AT TROY LAST WEEK.

A THREE MINUTE SON/MOM EMBRACE AFTER A TOURNAMENT ELIMINATING LOSS!

HAWKS   3      SHARKS   2

Hawks sub Nick Piccolo scores a late final period goal to snap a 2-2 tie and send the Hawks to the W!  Line-mates Paul Vioalssi and Brian Moore also score for the Hawks.  Goalie Billy Papciak was excellent between the pipes!  Zach Wagner with both Sharks markers.

FLYERS   4     HABS   2

Center Trevor Wrobel scores the Flyers initial and game winning goal, as the host Flyers defeat the Frenchmen in a nip and tuck game.  Steve Bayagich and sub Paul Elsey Jr. also score for the Flyers.  Marty Papesh with the hat trick assist.  Rob Rowling and Andy Bergeson were the marksman for the Habs.

BRUINS   4    WINGS   0

The Bruins methodically dismantle the Wings, behind the shutout goaltending of “Smoking” Joe Polizzi.  Steve Lemieux, Rob “Archie” Montgomery and Sting rookies – Chris Robillard and James “Reggie” Robie all find the back of the net.  No Wings highlights.

HAWKS   5     HABS   3

The Habs lose another close one, as both losses ended in empty netters.  On the other end of the spectrum, the Hawks sweep on the day!  With one of the best du rags in the league – Paul “Bret Michaels” with the deuce.  Singles for Robbie Olmstead, Mike Krueger and sub “Skip” Lockwood.  Rob Rowling, Paul “Stork” Erickson and sub “Danny” Fleshner tally for the Habs.

FLYERS   1     BRUINS   1

This was a goaltending clinic, reminiscent of the Bernie Parent of the Flyers and Gerry Cheevers of the Bruins days!  Steve Bissell(Flyers) and Joe Polizzi(Bruins) both with outstanding games between the pipes!  Steve “Mario” Lemieux scores for the Bruins and sub Mike Ala tallies for the Flyers, who played with nine players in both games today.

WINGS   7    SHARKS   4

The four sub Wings recover nicely from the game one shutout and fill up the net this game!  Sting rookie John Crisi with the trick!  Definitely not a rookie – sub Mark Rogers with the deuce.  Singles for fellow sub John Cornish and Greg Stacey.  Jack Priauix with three helpers.  Sharks center Zach Wagner with the hat trick!  Ron Duguay look alike, sub Anthony Amato with a single.  The Sharks played both games today with nine players, as one of their subs was a no-show.

Name me the first NHL team from California to win the Stanley Cup?

The 2007 Anaheim Ducks!

The Los Angeles Kings won it in 2013.
