PLAYOFFS – WEEK TWO

WINGS    2     SHARKS   2

This was a goaltender battle between the veteran Billy Schaugg and Kris “King” Arthur!  Both puck stoppers shined in nets!  John McNeilly and Paul “Stork” Erikson dent the twine for the Wings.  Brian Reath and Nate McNaughtry do likewise for the Fish.

FLYERS    4     BRUINS   3

Game tied 3-3 with just over a minute left in the game.  Then Flyers Mike “Padre” Nalepa bursts down the left wing and buries his second goal of the game for the game winner!  John Cornish and Mark Rogers with singles.  Zach Wagner(2) and enjoying sort of an offensive reemergence – “Midtown” Mikey Brown tally for the men in yellow.

HAWKS    5     HABS    4

Robbie Olmstead(2 & 3) and Brian Moore(1 & 4) put on a passing clinic on how to properly share the puck, as the Hawks edge the Habs.  Scott Mitchell and Craig Maisonneuve with singles.  Big Rob Rowling(2), Craig Bastuba and raising his level of play in the playoffs – Pierre Dugas tally for the Frenchmen.  Dugas and Dave Marcero of the Hawks both with minor interference infractions as they hit the box together and exchange kind pleasantries.

BRUINS    5     SHARKS   1

Mike Garlick scores 23 ticks into the game for the Bruins as they right the ship this game for the W!  Looking a little lighter and quicker on his skates today – “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio and Zach Wagner with the deuce.  Gregg Stacey with the lone Shark goal.  Solo roughing minor penalties for Stacey and Ward Peterson of the Sharks.

HAWKS    2     FLYERS    2

Both goalies put on a show for the two people(Marty’s Parents) in attendance, in this well played game.  Flyers sub Joe “Ricky” Nelson and aging like a fine wine – Dar take turns foiling the opposition.  John Cornish scores twice for the undefeated first place Flyers.  Scott Mitchell and Dave Marcero with the Hawks markers.

HABS    5     WINGS    3

“It’s playoff time” Pierre Dugas says, as he finds the back of the net twice in this game!  Singles for Kyle Lybecker, Rob Rowling and Joey Reiss.  Sub Scott Davenport with the tour du chapeau assist.  Mike Riddle, Steve Bayagich and sub Marcola score for the Wings in this chippy game.  Joey Reiss puts a hold on John McNeilly, who took exception and picks up a roughing minor penalty as they both hit the sin bin.  Pierre Dugas and John McNeilly get into it and both receive roughing minor penalties.  That was McNeilly’s third penalty of the game and a head start to the cooler.
