A VERY INTERESTING COVID/HOLIDAY ABBREVIATED SEASON!

ONLY TWO TEAMS PLAYING ABOVE .500 THIS SEASON.

FLYERS    5    HABS   2

Deuces wild for Mark Rogers and John Cornish.  Mike “Padre” Nalepa with a single.  Larry “School Boy” Rowe and scoring 11 ticks left in the first period – Joey Reiss tally for the Habs.

SHARKS    4     WINGS    3

Wings up 3-2 entering the final stanza.  Then the Sharks score twice in the final period’s first three minutes to secure the W!  Trevor Wrobel with a two goal game for the Sharks.  Singles for Brian Reath and Nate McNaughtry.  Continuing his hot goal scoring streak – Scott Davenport(2) and Jimmy “Jets” Galloway tally for the Wings.  Defenseman Pat “The Beast” Wosek with the tour du chapeau assist.  Hawks forward Ward Peterson racks up a minor unsportsmanlike penalty.

BRUINS    4    HAWKS   1

The battle for first place as the Bruins declaw the Hawks.  The Bruins break a 1-1 tie in the final period with goals just 17 seconds apart!  The pride of St. Norbert’s college in Wisconsin “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio, Lou Suvak, Zach Wagner and “Midtown” Mikey Brown do the honors for the men in yellow.  Goaltender “Smoking” Joe Polizzi was outstanding between the pipes!  Hawks sub Mike Ala goes five hole for their lone goal.  Bruins sub Chris Isola picks a solo roughing minor penalty.

HAWKS    5     WINGS    3

Brian Moore with even strength and shorthanded goals for the top spot Hawks, as they enter the final two games next week a point up on the surging Bruins.  Singles for Dave Marcero and subs “Skip” Lockwood and Marcola.  As in game one – sub Scott Davenport scores twice for the Wings.  Pat Wosek with a blast from the point, as the Wings are now winless in their past six contests.

SHARKS   4     FLYERS   1

Hmm!  Maybe my chastising last week of the talent laden underperforming Sharks hit a nerve, as they sweep for the day!  Your welcome boys!  Dr. Nate with the deuce.  Singles for Ward Peterson and Richie Artymovich.  Puck stopper Billy Schaugg was stellar in nets!  Mike Nalepa with the Flyers lone marker.

BRUINS   3     HABS   1

The Bruins win a must game as this one had the makings of the wild and wholly NHL 70’s.  Ten penalties in all called in the game.  More on that later.  As in game one “Smoking” Joe Polizzi had his glove hand working and stood tall in nets only allowing two goals total on the night!  Bruins sub Chris Isola with their first two goals.  Donnie Rivera with the Bruins final marker.  Zach Wagner with three helpers.  Joey Reiss bangs in a rebound for the Habs as they drop two today.  Now to the frolicking.  Zach Wagner of the Bruins and Rob Rowling of the Habs take turns playing Davey Crockett and hit the box with slashing minors.  Then Habs sub Paul Elsila comes up high with his stick on Lou “The Butcher” Suvak who retaliates with a chop.  Both reside to the box.  “The Butcher” was not done yet!  Suvak and Pierre Dugas get into it and both receive minor unsportsmanlike penalties.  It was a lively contest!
