LEAFS   4   BRUINS   3

The Leafs eke out a close victory against the determined Bruins.  Left defenseman Lenny Gerbino goes short side low for the game winner.  “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio with a breakaway goal and a deuce for left winger Mike Nalepa.  A little bit of coaching genius here from the Leafs Jeff Ivory, as he sends out Nalepa just for one shift on the other line.  Well guess what?  5 seconds into the shift Nalepa, scores on a tic tack toe play!  Shades of Punch Imlach!  Bruins – Donnie Rivera(2) and Craig Bastuba.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

STARS   3   WINGS   0

The story of this game was simply the outstanding goaltending by Billy Schaugg of the Stars.  He stood on his proverbial head!  Mike Miller with the Stars first two goals.  His second goal was scored shorthanded.  Eddie Sudzina with a late final period marker.  No Wings highlights.

HAWKS   5    HABS   4

The Hawks PMS line of Marty Papesh(2 Goals), Nate McCaughtry(3 Goals) and John Shelton(3 Helpers) tally all 9 points for the Hawks as they defeat the Frenchmen.  The Habs skate with 9 players today.  Before the game they tell unknown sub Angelo Taormina to play forward.  A few players tell Captain Jack Leavy that Angelo is a real good defenseman.  So Jack says “O.K. we’ll give him a period and see how he does!”  After plating superb defenseman and scoring two goals – I think Angelo passed the audition!  Kyle Lybecker with the Habs first two markers.  Sub Chris Isola with the hat trick assist.

WINGS    6     HABS   5

The battle for first place!  5-5 tie.  Then the Habs left defenseman coughs up the puck with 15 seconds left in the game.  The Wings swoop down on a 4 on 1.  Habs goalie Scott French made the first two saves – only to see John McNeilly bury his second goal of the game with 4 seconds left on the Troy Arena clock!  Ouch!  Singles for Jack Priauix and subs Mike Folster and Scott Davenport.  Wings right winger Mike “Bubba” Wilson comes down on a 2 on 1 with center Scott Davenport.  Wilson looks Scott off and finds the back of the net!  As Davenport glares at Wilson he says: “Good thing you scored!”  Dana Boyette with three helpers.  Robbie Olmstead with the tour du chapeau and “Midtown” Mikey Brown with the deuce for the Frenchmen.  Once again – Habs sub Chris Isola with 3 helpers.  Things got a little ugly late into the game as Davenport picks up a 5 minute head butting penalty!  Also Captain Jack Leavy receives a 2 minute unsportsmanlike penalty on the play.

STARS    4   BRUINS   2

The Stars sweep for the day – as the Bruins drop their 12th straight game.  Baker’s Bruins are worried about being the first Sting team to NOT make the playoffs – LOL!  Fresh from playing in a tournament in Nashville, Joey Reiss with the Stars first two goals.  Mike Miller and Rob Duff with singles.  Donnie Rivera and Ryan Boyette score for the Bruins.  Joey Reiss and Mike T. Brown both hit the box in tandem with roughing minors.

HAWKS   5   LEAFS   1

Dr. Nate McCaughty racks up his second trick of the day!  Along with his outstanding hockey ability, check out Dr. McCaughtry’s bio below.  He has more education than the whole league combined!  Marty Papesh and on a beautiful top shelf laser – Al Pyc with the balance of the  Hawks goals, as they sweep for the day!  “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio with the lone Leafs marker in this penalty free game.  Leafs sub goaltender Mark Luscki with an outstanding game in nets!  Best 5.0 G.A. I ever saw!
