This game was much closer that the score indicates. Bruins puck stopper Rick “Ticker Tuukka Rask” Chauvin stood on his proverbial head making several highlight reel pad saves! The Bruins spread out the scoring – Steve Lemieux, Keith Foucher, Bob Watson, Rick Batchelder and sub John “Magnum” Higgins. Terry Masserant with the lone Shark goal.
HAWKS 3 HABS 2
Hawks winger Brian Belloli with their first and final goals and Eddie ‘The Eagle” Higgins with their middle goal. Goaler Brian Miller with his usual solid game in nets. Kenny Wilkins and sub Robert Stempian tally for the Frenchmen.
HAWKS 4 SHARKS 2
The Hawks make a positional change and move forward Billy Hagen back to defense and the move worked to perfection, as they sweep on the day! Mark Smyth with the deuce. Singles for Steve Orr and Brian Belloli. Al Sparks and Gary Szalanski were the Sharks marksman in this penalty free game.
BRUINS 3 FLYERS 3
This game had a familiar ring to it. Two weeks ago the Bruins score with twenty seconds left in the game to defeat the Flyers 4-3. Jump forward to this game and the Bruins pull the goalie and tie the game up with just 53 seconds left on the arena clock! One of the Flyers bellowed in their post game locker room: “We gotta close these Mother Blank out!” Captain Ryan O’Rouke and Sting rookies Bruce Buntin and Sal Bonnanno score for the Flyers. Goaltender Bobby Rutkoske was outstanding in nets! Centers Steve “Mario” Lemieux(2) and sub John Higgins tally for the Bruins who are now undefeated in their past ten contests.
HABS 7 WINGS 1
The Habs release lot’s of frustration in this game as they rout the Wings! Deuces wild for Stevie Lambert and sub Robert Stempian. Singles for Dave Herkowitz, Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins and Chicago Black Hawks forward sensation Alex Debrincat’s Dad – Dave. Robbie Porter does the honor’s for the Wings. Robbie Porter incurs a high sticking minor penalty and immediately as he comes out the box picks up an unsportsmanlike penalty. Same scenario for Captain Paul Giles. He receives a body checking minor penalty and immediately out the box picks up an unsportsmanlike minor. Guess the Wings were a chirping today!
This past season Austin Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs became the second American to win the Rocket Richard Trophy(Led the League in Goals).
