Scoreless entering the final stanza. Jim Chapie scores to put the Fish up one zip. Then the Wings score three times in under a two minute span for the W! Jimmy George with a two goal game. Paul Vioalssi with their middle marker. Wings goalie ‘Ticker” with a strong effort between the pipes.
FLYERS 2 HABS 2
Superman and surprise Habs sub goalie – “Smoking” Joe Polizzi steal the show this game! Todd Schurman goes twine twice for the Flyers. Chuck Mouraine does likewise for the Habs.
BRUINS 3 HAWKS 0
The Bruins play a strong game behind the stalwart puck stopping shutout efforts of Mike Schlimgen! The Bruins mix it up and move “The Weapon of Mass Destruction” Dougie Roehl to the top- line at left wing and he responds with a two goal game. His first goal was an absolute slap shot bomb! Line-mate Steve Lemieux with their middle goal. No Hawks sighting this game.
WINGS 4 HAWKS 1
Oh boy! The speed disparity was extremely evident this game as the Wings ran the Hawks into submission. The speedy Jimmy George was everywhere with a 2 & 2 game! Those edge skating lessons he is taking is finally beginning to come to fruition. Left winger Al Sparks also with a two goal game. Right winger John Perini with the hat trick assist. Second line center Bo Altherr dominated in the face-off circle – winning 90% of his draws! In between games one of the Hawks suggested to Al Pyc that he should offer a $50 gift card from his company to whoever scores the Hawks first goal. Billy Hagen is the winner! Don’t look too hard in your mailbox Billy – Lol! The declawed Hawks are now winless in the past five games. Somehow they need to find some youth!
BRUINS 5 HABS 2
How bout that! The up and coming Bruins are now officially out of hibernation, as they sweep in convincing fashion today! Steve Lemieux, Dougie Roehl, Joe Plati, Eddie Higgins and John Dooley(EN) all find the back of the net. Mike Ala and Kenny Wilkins with the Habs markers.
FLYERS 4 SHARKS 1
An ugly situation occurred this game. More on that later. Keri Topouzian scores a minute into the game to start the Flyers victory. Bruce Buntin, Kevin Maguire and it was nice to see Captain Ryan O’Rourke back on the ice today after a lengthy stint on the DL – with singles. Rob Lee with the lone Shark goal as they drop a doubledip today. Now to the situation. The Sharks Pat Berry and the Flyers Todd Schurman get into a major altercation(See Below) and major penalties were issued, as Berry exits the ice and leaves the arena. Postgame locker room was extremely interesting for the Flyers. Everyone knows about the Bud Light stigma going on. Well – the Flyers player in charge of beverages today, brings a cooler full of Bud Light! Not too many happy faces and beer consumed!
